Pricing for Music images / portraits / headshots is a tricky business.

As a member of a fledgling band and having countless friends in bands, I know how little money is there for shots. But as a photographer who's seen folks careers take off because they had high quality images to promote and represent themselves, I know how valuable those images are. For example, often times the Reader and other publications that bring people to your shows are picking the photos to print based on the quality of the photo.

Another band necessity is album cover and liner note art. Sometimes you don't want a picture of the band or the artist on the cover, you want something stylized, abstract, moody, etc. I love to cook that stuff up for artists, and I'm more likely to compromise my rates even further for that stuff.

So the rate for each job is worked out with the client as a compromise between value and available funds. Don't hesitate to call and talk to me about what you need, from press kit photos to live coverage for a website. Factors that influence price are: size of the band, number of different "looks" you want, whether it's studio or location, wether or not you have record label $$$, etc., etc.

Just call.
